What WorkBuddy is

WorkBuddy is Tencent's desktop agent for office work, built by the CodeBuddy team and released in March 2026. You describe an outcome in natural language; it breaks the task into steps, calls the tools it needs, checks its own output and hands back a file you can open. The workspace covers documents, spreadsheets, slide decks, data analysis, design images and code, so a single task can end as an .xlsx, a .pptx or a chart without switching applications. Local files are read and written inside folders you authorise, with a standalone file browser for reviewing and editing before anything is saved. The model is selectable per task, which lets cost and latency be traded against output quality. It connects to WeCom, Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting and QQ Mail directly, with connectors for Feishu, DingTalk and Canva, and it can be driven from the WeCom side panel or a mini program. Tencent states ISO 27001, SOC 2 and MLPS Level 3 certification, with data stored in mainland China.

Best for

  • Teams already working inside WeCom, Tencent Docs or Tencent Meeting
  • Anyone who wants documents, slides and code from one agent instead of three
  • Mainland China companies that need in-country data storage and local support

Not ideal for

  • Teams standardised on Google Workspace or Slack, where the integrations add little
  • English-first organisations that need English documentation and support

Pros

  • One workspace covers writing, spreadsheets, slides, analysis, images and code
  • Results come back inside WeCom, so there is no export step between tools
  • Selectable models let you trade cost against quality per task

Cons

  • Interface and documentation are Chinese-first; English coverage is thin
  • Deepest integrations are Tencent's own, which limits value outside that stack
  • Output quality moves with the model you pick, so results vary across tasks

Pricing in detail

A free tier covers individual use with a monthly credit allowance and a cap on agent runs. Paid personal plans are billed monthly in RMB and raise the allowance and the number of concurrent tasks; the top tier adds priority processing. The enterprise edition is sold per seat, with admin assignment of seats, role-based permissions, audit logs and usage controls, and it is the version that adds managed agent hosting. A separate education edition is free for teachers. Credits are shared with the CodeBuddy account, so usage in one product counts against the same pool.
